Welcome to yet another fucking CYOA!
Apologies in advance if this is the wrong board, but /site/ gave conflicting answers; a quick look around makes me think this board is the one where my particular brand of game will work best. Maybe.
What do I mean by 'my particular brand?' Well, Pony's Quest is not writing-centric due to the fact that I am a very poor writer. Instead, I put together images with custom sprites to show how the story is progressing. How the story progresses, as you might have guessed, is up to you... except during cutscenes. Due to something sufficiently awesome happening, or simply due to one picture not being enough to smoothly represent what you've commanded, there will be times when I post multiple pictures in a row and your commands will do nothing. I will preface such events whenever I can and I will try to avoid railroading, but this might not always be possible.
The other reason I came here instead of, say, /anon/ is because PQ is typically pretty work-safe. I'm not saying nothing mature ever happens; I'm just being honest. Even if something NC-17 does happen, tiny sprites aren't very expressive to begin with.
So, how to play PQ? Well, there's not really any rules - just a few general guidelines:
1. To progress the story, just give a command in your post and, if others agree with you (or if nobody else is around), it'll be done in the next pic, at which point the cycle continues. Commands should be kept simple, which basically just means 'Please don't make an entire paragraph outlining your four-point battle strategy against a few timberwolves."
2. Speaking of battle, when you are fighting enemies, I'll be using a D6 to determine how well you do. This is mostly to balance OP characters like Twilight and Rainbow Dash, who can pretty much one-shot or instantly escape from even boss-level threats with ease. The higher the roll, the better your command will turn out.
3. As you may have guessed by the name and artstyle, PQ is inspired by old Sierra-type adventure games like the King's Quest series. This means that, while the story won't be linear, making the wrong command will likely get you hurt or killed, typically in a manner you might deem 'unfair.' For example, a somewhat famous cause of death in the first PQ
from back on /mlp/ was teleporting onto a cloud as Twilight... and promptly falling through the cloud and snapping her neck. No healt
